The NCCS National Day of Service is the time when all of our chapters spend time with their members and volunteers to make a difference in their community. The date is on or around November 2nd to honor and celebrate the birth of our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick.
In 2019, the theme for the National Day of Service was “Read to Me: Inspire Me to Learn”. Our chapters did not disappoint.
30 of our chapters participated serving approximately 3000 children.
Books were distributed to children in all 30 cities.
75 Members volunteered 150 hours
5 chapters were mentioned in local publications or news
The winner of the 2019 NDS award went to our Atlanta Chapter: A children’s development center was the site of Atlanta’s “Fall on the Farm” festival where 150 children ages six months to five years enjoyed being read to, singing and doing crafts with volunteers dressed in farm attire. Each child received a book to take home.
