Loretta Haugh

“My dual membership status has afforded me a unique perspective on the diverse characteristics of different chapters, their projects, programs and challenges.  I have found the women of Christ Child to be most caring and giving of their time and talent to aid needy children in each community.  I am very blessed to be a part of Christ Child Society and look forward to continued personal growth through involvement in this wonderful organization.”

Loretta Haugh serves on the 2018-2020 National Christ Child Society Board as Recording Secretary as well as on the Membership & Expansion Committee, with a primary focus on expansion. She is currently President of the Christ Child Society of Sarasota chapter, where she now winters, and holds a supporting membership in the Christ Child Society of Akron.

Professionally, Loretta was an elementary and middle school teacher for many years. She then took an early retirement from teaching to campaign and win a seat on the Akron, Ohio Board of Education, which has a responsibility for 33,000 public school students. In her six years on the Board, Loretta served as Community Relations and Legislative Chair, Curriculum and Instructional Policy Chair, Personnel and Staff Relations Chair, Vice President–and ultimately President. She completed her professional career as Director of Student Achievement for a group of charter schools serving special needs students.

Loretta has also served as Trustee for the Boys & Girls Club of Summit County and a member of Leadership Akron. She is a sustainer of the Junior League and Junior Women’s Civic Club of Akron, as well as an active member of the Women’s Committee of University of Akron.
